If you’re in Network Marketing, you’ve been told by your Upline and team members that you have to attend the company convention.
If you’re an affiliate marketer, then you’ve been encouraged to attend industry events and events put on by the folks you represent.
Most people go to events passively …. They listen to the speakers, catch up with friends they haven’t seen in a while, and take a few notes.
But there is an active way to attend events that can rock your world.
To hear this topic on my Facebook Live, click here.
First, write down what you intend to accomplish at this event so when you leave you know if you met that goal or not.
It may be as simple as finding out the latest products and creating a strategy for selling them.
It might be meeting 5 top recruiters and 5 top earners and learning the one secret each to their success.
It might be to meet 3 people who recruit differently from you.
Or it might be to walk away with a daily plan of action.
Whatever it is, you must have it worked out and written down before you leave.
Next, decide who you want to meet. Get a list of the presenters and top achievers who will be there.
Do some background work. If the person has written a book, skim through it. Read articles they’ve written, videos they’ve recorded. Gather enough information on each that you aren’t going in cold.
When you are ready to meet someone, do it respectfully. Don’t run over, all excited, and interrupt a conversation the person is having with someone else.
Stand to the side until there is a natural break. The person will probably turn to include you. If not, you can step forward a bit. When the person acknowledges you, introduce yourself. Compliment him or her on their book, video, blog, whatever and relate something you found valuable.
Once you’ve complimented the person … honestly … then you can ask them for a picture or to sign their book or answer your questions.
One of biggest benefits of attending events is getting pictures.
Pictures with people known in the industry is a form of validation.
When you take a picture, make sure you’re smiling and that the lighting is good. If you want the “funny faces” version, great. Just make sure you have 2 or 3 different photos that you can use in various situations.
Lastly, take notes … lots of notes. Listen to the information not just to learn, but also to teach.
Taking good notes will mean you’ll have months’ worth of information to use for your Facebook Live presentations, LinkedIn articles, videos, blogs, emails etc.
And you can give value back to the world after you’ve received.
Attending events using the tips above really will rock your world.
